03 / The atelier
A small house in TAMPA making fewer, better objects for the home — with fourteen workshops we know by name.
Milestones
MIRA HAUS is founded in TAMPA
It began with forty ceramic vases, a folding table at a weekend market, and one rule: only sell what we would keep ourselves.
The first workshop partnership
A three-week stay with a family pottery in Alentejo became our longest-running supply relationship.
The KENMORE AVE showroom
We opened a 2,400 sq ft space where customers can see the full range in real light.
Fourteen workshops, one standard
Over 12,400 homes furnished, still with a team of nine and the same buying rule.
Nine people, one warehouse, and a rule we do not bend: would we live with it ourselves?
Four rules we do not bend
Written on the wall by the packing bench, mostly as a reminder to ourselves.
Chosen, not collected
We add a handful of pieces a season and retire anything that stops earning its place.
Materials that age well
Solid timber, natural fibre, stoneware and brass — nothing destined for landfill in two years.
Packed by hand
Plastic-free packaging, designed so fragile pieces arrive intact the first time.
People before margin
Makers are paid fairly and named on every product page. Long relationships, better objects.
Where the last five percent happens
Finishing, glazing, oiling and the small decisions that separate a good object from a lasting one.

A note from the founder
We started with forty vases and a folding table. What has not changed is the only question that matters when we buy: would we keep this in our own home for ten years? Everything else — the packaging, the photography, the price — follows from that.
